DIR Floortime Therapy
Are you finding it difficult to understand your child’s behaviour?
Is your child struggling to communicate and socialize with their peers?
Are you finding it hard to make meaningful connections with your child?
The Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-Based (DIR) Floortime Therapy is an intervention approach that recognizes the uniqueness of your child. Using this approach, I will be partnering with you to meet your child where they are at, follow their lead, and help them connect with others in new and meaningful ways so that they can build deeper relationships. This approach respects that your child has their own unique strengths and will allow your child to achieve their therapeutic goals at their own pace. Through this play-based approach, your child will gain skills that will help them communicate better, learn better and relate better with others.
Sensory Intergration Therapy
Is your child covering their ears, struggling to tune out background noises?
Is your child having a hard time focusing on a task?
Does your child only wear a certain type of clothing?
Most of us are familiar with our five senses: Sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. In the Sensory Integration framework, we focus on three additional senses: Vestibular, proprioception and interoception.
Vestibular - Our sense of movement and gravity, our sense of self
Proprioception - Our sense of when and how our body is moving without using our eyes
Interoception - Our sense of our inner being, our inner body sensations
The Sensory Integration treatment framework provides a comprehensive approach to understanding your child’s sensory system and helps them integrate sensation in new ways, so that they can be calm, regulated, and ready to engage with this world.
Safe and Sound Protocol
Does your child seem anxious a lot?
Does your child have difficulty socially engaging with others?
Does your child seem to be on high alert?
The Safe and Sound Protocol is a powerful listening tool that will allow your child’s nervous system to tune into safety so that they can stay connected in their body and feel regulated. When your child feels safe, they will have the capacity to socially relate to others, as well as make positive changes that are long-lasting.
Living in this new world of the pandemic, it is all the more important for your child to feel safe in their body.
